Homemade Croutons

Super easy homemade croutons will have your family begging for more.  

To start, you’ll need a loaf of French bread, either minced garlic or two or three peeled, whole garlic cloves and some extra virgin olive oil. 

Cube up that loaf and place in a pan.  I like a pan with sides unlike a cookie pan.  

Then place 1/4 – 1/2c EVOO in a small saucepan with the garlic cloves (or 2 teaspoons minced).  On medium heat stir for about 3-4 minutes.  You don’t want the garlic to burn.  Doing this infuses the garlic flavor into the oil.  SO yummy. 

 Next remove the saucepan from the heat and remove the garlic.   Then drizzle the oil all over the cubed bread.  Stir and toss to coat as much of the bread as possible.


I also like to shake some Garlic Salt and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper  over the cubes.  This is optional, but very tasty.  

Pop into a 250 degree oven until golden!

I toss the cubed bread every 10 minutes to get the perfect crispy, soft centered croutons known to man.  Then I take them out of the oven and let them cool.  

If you can keep from munching on these before dinner you truly have great skills, because I can’t.  These are so addicting! Trust me…you’ll never buy store bought croutons again.  

PS.  I store these in a ziplock  bag.
