Magic Bar Sundae

So true story… magic bars alone are amazing, but Magic Bars with IceCream make the perfect dessert.  These happen To be my hubs favorite bar cookie and because we are watching the new DVD release of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them together tonight I thought I’d surprise him with a little “magic” of my own!

Here’s what you need and how to whip up a quick batch of these perfect magic bars.

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Then grab a 9×13 pan and place one stick of  unsalted butter in it.  Place that in your preheated oven and let the butter melt.  If you are impatient, just melt the butter in the microwave and pour into the pan and proceed to the next step.  I like to do it “oven style” because it gives me time to gather the rest of the ingredients.

Once the butter is melted pull the pan out of the oven and sprinkle 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs and mix around with a fork.  Then press that down firmly.  Pour 1 can of Sweetened Condensed Milk over the top of those crumbs.  Try to evenly pour that goodness over the crumbs because it will not be spreadable without mixing up the crumb crust.  Trust me on that one!

Then sprinkle 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup Butterscotch Chips, 1/2 c. Heath Milk Toffee Candy pieces, 1 1/3 cup Sweetened Coconut, 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chopped Pretzels, and then press that down firmly.

Last but not least, drizzle some ice cream topping (Salted Caramel is my favorite) over the top.

Bake that until golden and bubbly which usually takes about 20 minutes.

Then it will need to cool at least 20 minutes.  I like mine warm with ice cream.  Why not take it to the next level?!

Then add a little spray of whipped cream and you’ve just made the PERFECT MAGIC BAR SUNDAY.  Take a bite & close your eyes and let the worries of the day/work week fly away.  Then share with the ones you love.  Everyone will appreciate the effort,  and you will be everyone’s favorite baker.

I always appreciated special desserts when I was growing up.  I knew my mama loved me when she made a special treat.  I hope my kids/family/husband know how special they are to me when I make their favorite treat too.
