This is the simplest lasagna casserole you’ll ever make. Seriously. And it’s delightfully delicious. I’ve made this dinner so many times and every one of those times it’s gotten rave reviews. I especially love to make this dish for my college kids as a surprise dinner during final’s week, or just a great Sunday dinner. I think a nice Italian meal is perfect for Valentines, which is why I wanted to share this recipe. Let me know what you think by whipping this up and sharing it with your family, your friends, or just a good movie and a fork all alone with no one to judge you on how many times you go back for more. 😉
First step is to gather the ingredients. You need 1 pound of lean hamburger meat and 1/2 pound of Italian sausage. Now, my kids like the mild Italian sausage so that is what I use, but I’m sure any brand or type will do.
Fry that up in a skillet. This picture is of a doubled recipe and just happens to be in a medium size pan… let’s just say I was too lazy to switch so it just had to do. Don’t you have days like that??? Anyway… Fry that meat UP!
Once that is ready then you will drain that meat, put it back in the pan and start a big pot of water to boil for one package of extra-wide egg noodles. (I add about 1 t. salt to my pasta water)
Follow the directions for boiling the pasta. Then DRAIN.
Now back to the sauce. Add one package of Zesty Italian Seasoning, a little salt/pepper to taste.
Next add one full jar of any pasta sauce you choose. I like this one…
Then you will use a large bowl to make the yummiest, creamiest pasta. Drop one 8oz Cream Cheese, 1 cup of Sour Cream and 1/2 – 1 can of Pesto into your bowl. Pour the hot, cooked noodles on top and stir to combine.
Now to the fun part. ASSEMBLY! Spray a 9×13 pan with PAM. Add the noodle mixture first.
Then the meat sauce on top of that.
And finally time for Mozzerella cheese and parmasean cheese.
Sometimes I only have an “Italian blend” cheese packet and that works just as well.
ALL DONE! JK Now you have to bake it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbling. I usually make this recipe the night before or morning of and keep it in the refrigerator until I’m ready to cook.
Just makes it so much easier (and cleaner in my kitchen). I didn’t take a photo of the “after” because I forgot and when I remembered it was already GONE! Seriously guys… it’s that good. Sure hope you enjoy this meal and serve it with some cheesy, garlic French bread slices and a nice Caesar salad.
